History of Kitsilano Beach

Kitsilano Beach has a rich history, dating back to when the area was home to the Squamish Nation. The neighborhood of Kitsilano itself was named after Chief August Jack Khahtsahlano, a well-known Indigenous leader. Over time, the beach became a popular gathering spot for locals and tourists alike, transforming into the laid-back hub it is today.
